Born and raised in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Han van Eijk is a natural-born singer with a lifelong passion for music and performance. He began his career in his teenage years as the lead vocalist for several Dutch bands, quickly building a reputation for his powerful voice and versatility. In 1999, Han scored a Dutch number-one hit as the voice behind “Leef,” the iconic theme song of the first season of Big Brother. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, he worked extensively as a backing vocalist for Dutch television productions, collaborating with legendary artists including Al Jarreau, Paul Carrack, Billy Preston, and Lionel Richie. During this period, Han also performed in The Bells of Freedom production in Washington, D.C., a special tribute gifted by the Netherlands to the United States in celebration of 50 years of Dutch-American liberation remembrance. A versatile vocalist with a talent for crossing musical styles and genres, Han is known for emotionally charged live performances that connect deeply with audiences through energy, warmth, and authenticity. Since 2026, Han has been releasing original music under the artist name Shepherd’s Oak. His songs combine autobiographical elements with relatable themes drawn from real life and personal experience.
